About the tradition:
Sinterklaas is a centuries-old Dutch celebration, rooted in the legend of Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of children. Each year, Saint Nicholas arrives by steamboat from Spain to the Netherlands, bringing presents and excitement. The tradition comes alive every December with parades, songs, and the arrival of Sinterklaas and his helpers. Children receive small gifts, sweets, and surprises. But the celebration is more than just gifts—it’s about gathering together, sharing joy, and passing down a cherished piece of cultural heritage.
